Welcome to my E-Learning and Online Teaching ePortfolio. I began creating this portfolio in May 2015 when I started taking classes at the University of Wisconsin, Stout toward an E-Learning and Online Teaching Graduate Certificate. I wanted to learn more about, and prepare myself for, working as an online instructor. As I have progressed through the program, I have continued to add important lessons and tools I have learned, and you can see them in the following pages. The information within this ePortfolio reflects the work I have done in the program, which has prepared me immensely in creating vibrant and exciting learning environments and experiences for both my students and myself.
A Little Bit About Me I earned my B.A. in English from Northern Arizona University and my M.A. in English and TESL Certificate from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. While in San Luis Obispo, I taught composition at Cal Poly and worked as a tutor in the University Writing and Rhetoric Center. Concurrently, I worked as a tutor at Cuesta College, and it was there that I realized the rewarding experience of working with community college students. Since finishing my graduate work, I have taught a range of composition courses, as well as grammar, critical thinking, and various literature courses, and I joined the faculty at Long Beach City College in 2004. My personal research interests are in the fields of basic skills teaching, with a new-found emphasis on accelerated pedagogy, as well as online and hybrid/blended classes. --Please click on the links at the top of this page to navigate through the portfolio.
